Sabato Moves Michigan Senate to Leans Democratic as Fox Favors Democrats in 215 House Seats

Two rating shops moved on the same Tuesday

Sabato's Crystal Ball at the University of Virginia Center for Politics published a slate of rating changes Tuesday, all toward Democrats, citing a persistently poor national environment for Republicans six weeks before Election Day (Sabato's Crystal Ball, September 22, 2026; The Hill, September 22, 2026). On the House board, the Crystal Ball now shows 211 seats at least leaning Democratic, 203 at least leaning Republican, and 21 toss ups after moving Iowa's 1st District from Toss Up to Leans Democratic, Florida's 27th from Likely Republican to Leans Republican, and Texas's redrawn 9th from Safe Republican to Likely Republican (Sabato's Crystal Ball, September 22, 2026; 270toWin, September 23, 2026).

Fox News Power Rankings, updated the same day, shifted 15 House races toward Democrats and now favors Democrats in 215 seats, Republicans in 201, with 19 toss ups. Senate and governor boards moved with the House

Crystal Ball Senate changes on Tuesday moved Michigan from Toss Up to Leans Democratic, Iowa from Leans Republican to Toss Up, and Kansas from Likely Republican to Leans Republican.
